Before you start

Open one individual bag at a time and match its pieces to its photo instructions. The set has several monster designs, and some bags include pipe cleaners while others do not. Build the particular base shown in your bag’s directions before changing its facial details.

Follow the product’s age guidance and supervise as appropriate. Small eyes, beads, adhesive dots, and sticker scraps are not for mouthing. If your design uses pipe cleaners, an adult should handle any sharp wire ends according to the kit instructions.

Make it step by step

  1. Sort one monster’s pieces

Place the sticks on one side of a tray and the backed stickers on the other. Identify the eyes, hanging cord, and any parts shown in the kit photo. Leave sticker backings in place while planning so small pieces do not attach to the table.

  2. Arrange the stick base

Copy the stick arrangement in your individual kit’s photo instructions on the flat work surface. Check that neighboring sticks are lined up and that the planned face will have enough room. Adjust now, before joining the sticks.

  3. Join the sticks as directed

Use the supplied adhesive dots at the joins shown in the kit directions. Press the connections together on the table rather than holding the whole base in the air. Follow any directions for reinforcing pieces, and gently check that the base stays together.

  4. Lay out the face and silhouette

Set the backed foam parts on the assembled base. Try the eyes first, then the mouth, followed by ears, horns, hair, or wings that belong to your design. Keep the eyes and mouth visible instead of hiding them beneath overlapping decorations.

  5. Peel and press the decorations

Remove the backing from one foam sticker at a time. Place it in its planned position and press it onto the sticks, especially where it crosses a join. Attach the googly eye stickers the same way, following the placement shown in your kit when needed.

  6. Add the design’s finishing pieces

Use glitter and gem stickers as small accents. If your individual bag contains pipe cleaners, fit them only in the positions and manner shown by its instructions. Check the back for loose pieces before adding the hanger.

  7. Attach the hanging cord

Follow the kit’s cord and bead arrangement, including its attachment point and knot method. Hold the ornament over the table by the cord to check that it hangs upright. Add the gift tag if giving it away, keeping the tag from covering the face.

Make it your own

Make the stick base first; adding decorations while its joins are loose makes alignment harder.

Use the kit’s monster outline and personalize its expression with the supplied stickers.

For a group session, keep each individual bag and its photo instructions together.

Common fixes

The stick base shifts as you decorate.

Set it flat and check the joins against the photo instructions. Press the supplied adhesive dots at the correct contact points before continuing.

The monster hangs at an angle.

Check the cord attachment against your design’s instructions and remove any loose, unevenly placed decorations before rehanging.

Finish & enjoy

Give every join a gentle check and hang the ornament from a stable indoor hook, tree branch, or display line. Store it flat so the stick base and projecting foam pieces are not bent.
